How big is your Box?

As humans, we are constantly boxed in by our surroundings. Whether it is the physical limitations of our environment or the mental limitations of our own thoughts, we are often confined to what we know. This is especially true when it comes to thinking about solutions to problems. We tend to think inside the box, because that is all we know. But what if there was a way to think outside the box? What if there was a way to see beyond our current perspective? We are constantly told to "think outside the box." But what if your box is too big? What if you can't see beyond its confines?
When it comes to boxes, “Size Does Matter”. The bigger the box, the more limited your current perspective is. This limits your ability to come up with new and innovative solutions to problems. You are confined by your own thoughts and ideas, and you can't see beyond what you already know. But if you challenge the status quo and think outside your box, you can open yourself up to new possibilities and opportunities. You can see things from a different perspective and come up with creative solutions that you never would have thought of before.
So, the size of your box decides how hard you have to work to think outside of it, so keep it small and easy to venture outside of it. This is because when your mind is confined within certain boundaries, it's easier and more natural for new ideas and thoughts to emerge.
This concept was demonstrated in a study by Dr. Beeman “The Cognitive Neuroscience of Insight” where participants were asked to come up with creative solutions for a problem while their minds were restricted in different ways. One group had a large space in which they could move around, brainstorm and be creative; the other group had a smaller space that limited their movement. The results showed that the group with more space came up with fewer original ideas than the group with less space (Beeman).
This study supports the idea that having less room (or constraints) allows your mind to be more inventive because you are forced to think outside of the boundaries set before you. This is particularly useful when trying to come up with new solutions or ideas for problems as opposed To simply replicating what has been done before. So don't be afraidto constrain yourself - whether it’s through limitations on time, resources or even mental stimulation. It just might help you think outside of the box.
Too often we get bogged down by our own limitations. We let our fears control us instead of trying new things or stepping out of our comfort zones. We need to remember that it's okay not know everything or have all the answers- because that's where growth comes from!
So don't be afraid to think outside the box! Challenge yourself and expand your horizons! The world is full of possibilities waiting for you explore them! #environment #work #help #growth #opportunities #creative #neuroscience #thinkingoutsidethebox #challengeyourself
