The curtains slowly opened to reveal a darkened stage. A single spotlight shone on a small figure in the center of the stage. The figure was a child, no more than 10 years old. The child was wearing a tattered dress and had a dirt smudged face. The child slowly raised her head to reveal a pair of piercing blue eyes. The child began to speak in a soft, clear voice.
"Life is like a stage. We all have our own parts to play. Sometimes our parts are big and sometimes they are small. But every part is important. Just like every person is important. "You never know who's watching you from the audience. They could be your friends or your family. They could be total strangers. But they're all watching, waiting to see what you'll do next.
"So, what will you do? Will you make them laugh? Will you make them cry? Will you make them think? It's up to you. Life is waiting for you to put on a good show."
The child slowly lowered her head and the spotlight faded. The curtains closed, leaving the audience in darkness.
